What does winning this award represent for you at this moment in your journey?
Winning this award is a real honour. It really motivates me to continue the work I do along side others to pave the way for future generations. The increased profile in harder to reach communities really allows me to provide financial knowledge and support to those who need it most.
What key experiences or decisions shaped the path that brought you to this point?
When speaking to female founders it became clear that there was and still is a lack of education and knowledge when it comes to access to finance and banking.
I wanted to support and change this and have hosted funding events, taken part in funding panels and signposted access to support.
What challenge has pushed you to grow the most and what did you learn from that experience?
Every role I have done within the finance industry has had its challenges like with any role or business. I have used every challenge as an opportunity for growth, learn a new skill or approach. Also not being afraid to ask for help.
What milestone or breakthrough moment helped shape the direction of your career or business
Having my daughter made me even more ambitious to support female founders. To help breakdown barriers so hopefully her generation don’t have to face the challenges as those who have gone before.
How do you aim to create meaningful impact within your industry or community?
I aim to support more female led businesses access financial support when they need it most on the growth journeys. In turn these businesses will create jobs for local communities and have a wider impact on the economy.
What values guide the way you work and lead, and how have they influenced your success?
Staying true to myself, ensuring that my actions reflect who I am rather than conforming to external expectations. Valuing the lessons learned from failures and setbacks, and using them as a foundation for future success. Being committed to making a difference. Letting my work contribute to the broader community and not just an individual success. Support others with mentorship which strengthens the collective growth of my network
What insight or advice would you offer to women who want to grow, lead, and make their mark?
Feel the fear and do it anyway! Take that first step you will figure it out along the way!
