What does a Business Women’s Dress Code mean in today’s Post-Covid world? In a world where the role of women in business has changed, some things still feel like they are stuck in an old mindset, one of them is the pressure for a woman to look sharp, intelligent, sexy, and be at the top of her game all at the same time!
During the Covid-19 pandemic, many took advantage of not having to worry as much about what to wear due to meetings being over Zoom, these were expected to be more casual due to the homely setting.
Now that the country is back to business as usual, more and more outlets have been promoting and launching guides for what to wear for business attire and how to look presentable with the “Best business looks”.
It dawned on me recently, having been to the Web Summit conference, surrounded by thousands of web and tech businesses with up to 72,000 people, with business people pitching or introducing themselves that you can be a businesswoman who does business wearing a hoodie and trainers if no one watching! But ultimately the perception of people may differ if you are doing business with a blazer on.
It’s as if being a businesswoman has become a sub-culture of its own where the social norms expect this group of people in society to wear a blazer with not a hair out of place.
We’d love to know your thoughts and experiences on info@bizwomen.org in regard to this topic and we may cover it in a future podcast of ours!
